Christmas gift

I made this for my little cousin for Christmas.  His mom said he like dragons and dinosaurs so I searched Ravelry and  found this pattern.

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-dinosaur-dragon-hat-with-scarf

It is a paid pattern and I modified the spikes cause I couldn't make mine look like hers.  Here is what I came up with.

He is almost 2 so I made the 2-5 size so he could grow into it.  It looked cute dragging of the floor behind him like a tail.

I hope that you all have a great weekend and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I watched for this to go on sale all Christmas and was so happy to see it on sale. I wanted to let you know incase you were looking for this yarn and have a Joanns near you.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

I hope that you all have a Happy Holiday and a great weekend.  I have Christmas Eve tonight at my Grams house and the Christmas morning with the kiddos.  After that they got to there dads till Sunday afternoon and I get to spend Christmas evening curled up on the couch with my sweetie.  ( or maybe playing with my sewing machine that is under the tree  =]  ),  I am brand new to sewing. Did it once in middle school all those years ago so if any of you know good places to get tips and such please let me know.

I went with my mom to pick out a new kitten last night.  She is such a doll.  Her name is peek a boo.  She is a light colored calico.  I wish I had a pic to show you all but she hasn't sent me one yet.  I made her a mouse last night.  Here is where I got the pattern.  http://annemariesbreiblog.blogspot.com/p/pattern-mouse-patroon-muis.html.

The English instructions are at the bottom of the page.   It was really easy to make.

I better finish getting ready to leave in a bit but I want to wish you all the best and I will try to get on here more often to let you know how my adventures in sewing are going.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Whats been happing here....

Hey everyone!!  I hope you all had a great holiday.  Things here were good. I didn't have to cook so that is always a plus!!  We had dinner with my family at my Grandmas and then with his family at his mom's.  Really good food and ate too much but what is new.

We also did the Turkey stampede on Thanksgiving morning.  My son and I did the 5K.  He got done in around 34 min, and I ran with a friend and got done in 39 min. It was a good time for me.  My daughter and other half did the 1 mile walk and then waited for us at the finish line.

Me and the kids put up the Christmas tree this morning when they got home from there memaws.  They always spend Friday nights with her and never complain about it. They are good kids.  We even wrapped a few gifts that I got yesterday shopping because I just don't like a tree with no presents under it.  I am hoping to get most of the rest of my shopping done next weekend when there are with their dad.

I finished another scarf.  I made this one pink and put a sparkly flower and heart on it. I hope that my little cousin likes it.  I also made a set of coasters and a little white Christmas tree.  I was making a washcloth when  I started on the coasters but they I thought they would make cute coasters and that is how they were born.

Well thats about all I have for now. I am working on a snowflake scarf but I am trying to figure out how to put the flakes together.  I hope that you all have a great weekend and I will enjoy reading what you all have been up to.

Thanks for stopping by,

Teri

Finished a scarf for Christmas

Well I finished one of two scarves for my cousins daughters.  I showed their mom the pattern and she thought that they would love them one in pink and light purple.  I got the pattern here:

http://gamergirluniverse.blogspot.com/2010/11/gir-scarf-pattern.html

Here is the pictures of this one.

I used DC instead of single to get it done alittle faster and I messed up in the nose alittle but I think that it turned out cute.

I am putting this one in in the bag next to it with a color book and crayons.

Work is alittle crazy this week.  They are doing a big project out on the floor and we have inventory on Friday.  Inventory is my major concern right now because it is what I take care of but we are looking good to be set and ready to get counted Thursday night and get it all scanned in on Friday.  Hopefully we will be out of there by noon and I will have a little extra time to get the pink scarf done too.

Well I best be going for now but I will check back in soon.  Have a great week and can't wait to see what you all have made.

Back from our Sat. run/walk

Hey all!!

Well I just got back from our run/walk and the river walk.  There is a group of us that meet every Tues, Thurs, and Sat.  I made it  Thurs and Sat. this week.  The course is 2.04 miles. We did it in 28:54 Thurs and 27:35 today so we are getting better. I am the one holding them back because I am the beginner but They are great about helping me.  My other half said I was crazy because it is 27 degrees outside. I told him when you run you get warm.  It snowed yesterday for the first time too. It was pretty but I am not ready yet.

I hope you all have a great day,

I am off to more laundry and dishes and work on my sampler.

Wow... time got away from me...

I can't believe it is Wed all ready.  We have had so much basketball stuff going on that I haven't had time to post much, but I do hop on in the morning before work and read all that is going on with everyone.  I will tell you one thing. I am so glad that the elections are over.  People get really crappy and the ads just drive me nuts.  NONE of them tell the real story. Only the parts that make them look good and the other person look like a real ass.  Now we can go back to stupid, sometimes funny,  commercials selling us crap that we either don't need or aren't good for us and get on with things.

As for crocheting...  I have been working on my Christmas afghan. I have all the read squares done, all the green made, but still need the border on them and started on the white.  I thought about stopping with the just the red and green but when I laid it out it wasn't big enough yet. Here are a couple pics so far:

I really wished they sparkled well in photos.  Thats about all that I have been up to . I hope that you are all having a great start to holiday season.  Seems funny to say that already.

Teri

Oh.... if you are wondering why there are pizza boxes on the puzzle... I have been wanting to work a puzzle for a while now but I have 3 cats and they like to play with the pieces so i cleaned out 2 pizza boxes.. lined them with paper and put all my pieces in them that why I don't have to keep sorting them out and I just have to close the lid.  So far it has worked... we will see...   lol.

First Walk/run meet

Well I met up with an old friend from school that I haven't seen in over 15 yrs, his wife, and another lady for a walk this evening.  They started this group last week but this was the first time it worked out for me to join them. We went for a 2 mile walk around a park and river walk and we are going to start working on running Sat.  They have a couple of marathons under their belt and they are wanting to get more people to get healthy.  We are working towards running in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.  I am so happy that they are doing this. I have tried to do it on my own and have always fail. It will be nice to do this with other people.

Have a great Friday tomorrow and I will post again soon.

Hugs

Teri

Another bag done...

Here is another bag. I have one more to do.  I got the yarn for this off of ebay.  I didn't know this is what it was going to be used for when I got it but it worked out OK.

Off to get my daughter from Basketball practice.  See you all laters.

CAL - Pumpkin

Well I did a CAL that Megan is having at Crochet Every Day.  It is the cutest little pumpkin.  I think if I do another one I will use a bigger hook. Me and the stem didn't get along at all...lol.  But it turned out pretty cute anyway. I am sure my cats will steal it for a toy if I don't put it up some where.

Here it is:

My son did say he thought it was a real pumpkin at first...lol.  I asked him where his glasses were.  =]

Hope you all have a great day!!

Windy here in Indiana

It is crazy windy out there today.  We had a tornado warning out while I was a work and we had to spend 20 minutes in a hallway. That was fun...lol.  I think it went south of us though. The power didn't even go out.

On the crocheting front I haven't gotten much done this weekend. I had a killer migraine that last all of Sunday and yesterday. I didn't even go to work. I slept all day and then couldn't sleep last night.  I am almost done with bag number 3. I just have to get the handles sewn on. Then i need to get busy on my Christmas granny square blanket.  I haven't done any squares in a month probably. I told my daughter she had to wait on her afghan until I got that one done.  She has reminded me a few times that it isn't ever going to get done in my drawer...LOL.  She could be right.  =]

I also joined a group to start training for the Turkey Trot 5K.  I don't run very well but they say it is for beginners. I missed the practice on Sat. and tonight my son has a basketball game so maybe Thursday if everything works out.

I think that is about all that has been going on here.

Talk to you all soon

the taking By Dean Koontz

I just finished reading this book this morning. I have always loved his books and picked this one up at the store.  I read it mostly at work on lunch or waiting for the kids to get done with one practice or another.  I really enjoyed it.  Here is the link to Amazon if you want to read what it is about.

Have a wonderful weekend,

I am off to work on another bag.  I have 2 more to make.

Finished a couple bags

Here are a couple finished bags. They were quick and easy to make. Making gifts this year has really been enjoyable.

The Purple one was 2 different variegated yarns... one that was pinks and one that was purple blue and green. I got them on clearance at Hobby Lobby to use for babydoll clothes but I put them together to see how they would look.  I think they turned out quite colorful.

Thanks for looking.  I hope that you all have a great week and I will see what I can make to put inside the Christmas one.

Hugs to all!!

Teri

UPDATE  -  10-20-10

http://www.sugarncream.com/pattern.php?PID=1133

I got the pattern from the link above. It uses 4 small squares sewed together but I didn't want to go that route so I just kept going with one big square until it was the size I was looking for. Mine measures 11.5 in wide and almost 17.5 inches long with the handles. I made the handles from this pattern also. They have 9 rows. Hope this helps. Teri

New Project

Hey Peeps!!  I hope that you are all having a great start to your weekend.  Just trying to stay warm here.. not that it is that cold but for whatever reason I am.  Hopefully my oatmeal will help warm me up.  I am working on a bag.  I thinking about making 3 of them for my little cousins for Christmas and putting a couple coloring books and crayons.  I was going to sewing 4-6 granny squares together but that didn't turn out the way I wanted it so I just made one big square and sewed them together.  Heres what it looks like so far.

I probably will go find some cotton yarn in more girlie colors to make the ones for them, but I am trying to figure out how with the Christmas colors that I have now.  I am sure I can find someone to give it to when I get it done.  I am trying to decide now on whether it should have one long handle or two short ones.  I am leaning towards the short ones but would love some of your ideas.

Have a wonderful, glorious, and most of all happy day!!

Another day... another dollar....

I have been working on the house this weekend and didn't really get any good things done.  The kids had school and stuff. My son brought home his football pics. I will try to scan and post one.  His is getting too big for me.  Tomorrow is his last football game of the year. I hope they do well they have only won one game this year but that is one more than last year.  My daughter got an A+ on her spelling test so she was very happy.  Thats about all that has been going on with me.. Post more later...

Have a great night,

Happy Saturday!!

Well it is cold, rainy out today so I guess it is the perfect day to get some stuff done around the house.  That always sounds good right. It is noon though and all I have managed is to get borders done on a few squares and that's about it.  I was hoping to see if there were any end of the year yard sales to look for more yarn or crochet books but I guess I will have to look on ebay and see what I come up with.  I hope that you all have a great weekend.

So glad it is almost Friday!!

Today was such a long day at work.  We are alittle slow and time just drags by. I would rather be to busy to think straight then be bored out of what little mind I have left. Hopefully everything goes good tomorrow and the weekend will finally be here.  I wanted to post a couple of projects. I finished my sons afghan. It ended up being just big enough to go across my queen size bed.
My other big project is a Christmas granny square afghan. I am doing it in I love this Yarn: sparkle.  Here are a couple pics:
http://smoothfoxlover.blogspot.com/2009/11/smoothfoxs-christmas-cheer-sampler-free.html

I posted the link where I got the pattern from.  I have all the red squares done. I am just putting the border around them and then I have the green and white to do.

I almost forgot... I started reading the Dexter Series. I love the show so much I had to see how close they are.  So far not disappointed.  True Blood on the other hand is so way off base but I like it too.  Can't wait to see what next season holds.

I hope that you all have a great weekend.  I'll check in with you soon

Hugs!!

I saw a cute pattern for a sweater the other day and thought about trying it... mind you I have never tried to do anything that complicated before. I tried baby booties once but they turned out different sizes.  The pattern for the sweater using Red Heart Pomp-a-Doodle yarn. I looks really cute.  I went to the craft store and bought just one to see how it was to work with. I watched a couple how to videos on you tube. I love you tube as a tool to learn new things.  It was a little difficult to start with and I still have trouble at the end of rows but i am trying to make a scarf out of it.  I will post a pic when I get it done.

Hats I have made

These are a few of the hats that I have made in the last 2 wks.  My lovely daughter got to be my model.  I will post the link of the patterns as I come across them again.

Scarf Patterns

Just surfing around and looking for scarf patterns for Christmas presents.  I found a few cute ones that I should be ok.  Still learning new stitches all the time. Hobby Lobby has some discontinued yarn maybe I can find some in there that would work well.  I made another hat yesterday when I should be working on my sons afghan.  I told him I would be done with it before it was cold out but I might not make it. We will have to get busy on it this weekend,

1st time blogger

I guess I will use this blog to introduce myself.  I am 34, live in IN and have 2 wonderful kids. Jess is 10 and Evan is 13.  They are going to really be fun in the next few years.  My 2 favorite things to do is crochet and reading.  If only I could do both at the same time.  I have done a few hats lately that I will try to figure out have to post.  I am also working on an afghan for my son.  It is black and different shades of camo yarn.  I have about 4 more sections to go before it is done. I have trouble doing larger projects. I get bored to easy so I try to mix lots of little projects.

Have a great day,

GO COLTS!!
